In our previous post, we wrote about a couple of legislative proposals to ban drivers from texting on Florida roads.
As everyone knows, texting is one of the most dangerous activities a person can engage in while behind the wheel. There have serious car accidents causing injuries in Clermont, across Central Florida and the nation by distracted drivers too busy with their phones to pay attention to driving.

A Florida woman recently told a media outlet that she has 10 reasons why the state should ban texting while driving: One for each bone that was broken when a texting driver ran into her.
The texting driver died in that car accident, she said, still holding his cell phone.

We're all grateful for the good and important work done by Central Florida police officers. But there are officers who fall short of what the public want and expect from law enforcement officials. Sometimes these officers do far more harm than good.
A recent Orlando Sentinel investigation shows that from 2006 to 2010, 118 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents with Florida police vehicles.

The sheer size, immense weight and deadly force of tractor trailers was evident in a stunning series of violent car and truck accidents that took 10 lives on a Florida interstate highway yesterday.
The accidents involving about 20 vehicles were about 85 miles north of Clermont on Interstate 75, near Gainesville.

Motorcycles have many advantages. They are maneuverable, require much less parking space, consume less gas, and offer a sense of freedom on the open road. Unfortunately, they offer little in the way of protection in the event of a motorcycle accident.
This past Tuesday evening, a man was riding his motorcycle westbound in Holiday when an SUV cut him off. According to official reports, the driver of the SUV was traveling southbound and had stopped at a stop sign. It was when she tried to make a left hand turn from the wrong side of the street that she struck the motorcycle.

Though their mission was to save a life, the three members of a heart transplant team that took off in a helicopter from northern Florida last month lost their lives instead.
The daughter of one of the crash victims recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of the pilot who died in the crash, and the charter helicopter company he owned.

Not only are Florida's roads dangerous, but even its roadsides can be very hazardous, as a weekend fatal car crash proved.
On Saturday, three people in their 20 were struck and killed by a passing car as they were standing roadside far south of Clermont.
